Steampunkinetics: A Gallery Exhibition Opening June 21 in NYC
 
Animazing Gallery in the heart of SOHO and Steampuffin are pleased to present “Steampunkinetics”, an exhibition of over seventy kinetic sculptures by twenty artists inspired by and entrenched in the Steampunk aesthetic. Some functional, some frivolous, and all fantastical, the works in this exhibition include lighting, furniture, time machines, submarines, airships, musical instruments, gizmos and gadgets.

Travel back in time, celebrate the present and re-imagine the future with us at the opening receptions for “Steampunkinetics,” June 21, 6-9 pm & June 23, 2-6 pm.

Time Machines: Rockets, Robots, and Steampunk

 
Beginning June 16 ModVic will be featured in an exhibition at Vermont's Shelburne Museum, "Time Machines: Rockets, Robots, and Steampunk". The exhibit is a fanciful and nostalgic exploration of dreams of the future in three parts. Beginning with our mid-century fascination with space travel, moving on to the place robots hold in our collective imagination and the world around us and finally on to Steampunk's place in the proto-techno-retrofuturist imagination. The exhibit runs until October 28, 2012.

The Watch City Festival: Waltham Goes Steampunk this May

On May 12th & 13th, 2012, the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation presents the third annual Watch City Festival! A city-wide event that celebrates the imagination, history and ingenuity behind Steampunk. For one weekend the city of Waltham is transformed into an alternate reality where the lines between science fiction and the industrial revolution are blurred to bring guests into an immersible experience like no other!
 
Bruce will be giving a talk entitled "Living Steampunk" on Saturday at 1 PM at the CDIA as part of the festival. Also, ModVic will be exhibiting at 226 Moody Street (formerly Anderson's Florist) through out the festival. S.T.E.A.M-punk

ModVic is working with the Revolving Museum and the Psychology Department at UMASS Lowell on securing a grant to fund a project which utilizes Steampunk art and design to connect with kids and young adults on the autism spectrum. Through blending science, technology, engineering and math with the art of Steampunk, we hope that students can come together, create extraordinary things and socialize in a supportive and therapeutic environment.

Steampunk Designing the Islands

ModVic will be working with a group of interior designers, artists and architects to Steampunk a historic hotel on Nantucket set to open summer of 2012.
