John Goddard Phillips was a man of great culture and wealth. On both his father’s and mother’s sides his ancestors ran back to the Pilgrims and early Puritans. He was a founding member of a shipping merchant business in Boston, Wendall & Phillips and later became President of the Sharon Historical Society. After retiring in 1901, he built an amazing fieldstone Victorian/Craftsman style home in Sharon MA. The home has now been completely restored in 2007.
The house has been home to 3 families since the Phillips family sold it in the early 1960s, The Pitts (1960 – 1990), The Renkes (1990 – 2000) and The Rosenbaums (2000 to present).
Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum purchased the property in June 2000 – it took 4 years before the restoration process got fully underway. It started with a leaky roof and snowballed from there.
